How do I resolve the error "There was a problem with the log file"?

End users may run into the following error:

"There was a problem with the log file. QuickBooks Web Connector will continue without the log file."

This happens when a file, QWClog.txt, that the web connector uses to store logs becomes damaged. To fix the issue, the end user will have to generate a new QuickBooks Desktop log file.

How do I fix this issue?

The end user will need to complete the following steps:

  1. Close completely out of QuickBooks and Web Connector.

  2. Go to:

    C:\ProgramData\Intuit\QBWebConnector\log

  3. Open QWClog.txt and rename it to QWClog_old.txt. This will allow you to keep the old file on hand while QuickBooks Desktop generates a new file to store logs in.

  4. Reopen QuickBooks Desktop - a new log file named QWClog.txt will be generated automatically.
