Why is my connection missing data?
Last updated: May 1, 2025
If you're not seeing expected data in your connection, the issue may be related to your Data Sync Configuration. Rutter allows you to customize which platform objects and fields are synced into our normalized schema — but if something is missing from that configuration, it won’t show up in your responses.
Step 1: Check Your Data Sync Configuration
You can review your current sync configuration here: Rutter Data Sync Configuration
Look for the object you're expecting (e.g. invoices, vendors, transactions). If it’s not listed, that could explain the missing data.
How to check:
Search by platform (e.g. “QuickBooks Online") in the platform configuration section
Find the platform object you are expecting. Confirm that its mapped Rutter object is included in the Data Sync Config.
Step 2: Update the Sync Config (If Needed)
You can add the missing object or fields directly from the Data Sync Configuration page.
However — and this is important:
Updating the config only applies to new connections.
Existing connections will not retroactively sync missing data unless you explicitly backfill them.
Step 3: Trigger a Backfill for Existing Connections
If you need to apply your updated sync configuration to a connection created earlier, you can use Rutter’s data recovery backfill endpoint to pull in the missing historical data.
